About Us
Value-based, patient-centred care has been acclaimed by clinicians and Healthcare Economists internationally. Achievement of this system requires a paradigm shift in thinking, organisation and training.
As a Registered Nurse, original founder Vanessa Pickford is acutely aware of the flawed nature of the Healthcare architecture in South Africa. As such, is committed to being actively involved in rebuilding a solid foundation through a combination of education and training of healthcare workers, and forging new structures in Healthcare by building, training and sustaining collaborative multidisciplinary teams.
As Healthcare begins at home, ICS have tailored CPR and First Aid courses to meet every training requirement. These courses are designed to ensure optimum pre-hospital care, to manage injuries and maximise the patient’s chances of survival.

Who We Are
Vanessa Pickford
Vanessa is passionate about both healthcare and education. 10 of her 25-years of nursing experience have been devoted to training and development in Healthcare. As such, she is perfectly positioned as COO of the Training Division of ICS, as included in her responsibilities is the planning and implementation of training programmes.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with Honors in Clinical Education from UCT. She started her nursing career at Mediclinic Constantiaberg, working in first the Medical Ward, and then Haematology Unit where she fulfilled the role of Unit Manager.
Whilst working in ICU, Emergency and Maternity Units, Vanessa became aware of the lack of CPR and First Aid knowledge held by the average South African. To this end, in 2007 she obtained accreditation with the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa, American Heart Association and International Trauma Life Support, which led to the formation of Integrated Clinical Solutions in 2014.
In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys running. She also gets her fair share of First Aid experience in raising her three sons.
